Coming home …

Sometimes you have to leave a place to realize that it was home all along.

So, after an eighteen month extended vacation in Maryland, the family returned to Central Florida last month.  I don’t think we all realized how much Florida was home for us until we left and came back… it was wonderful to come back.  The pace in the DC Metro Area is soooo fast and I didn’t even realize it until I wandered through Publix here and registered how calm and relaxed the environment was.  There’s no rush.  I think the heat has something to do with that, and the palm trees, the ocean, the pool… etc. etc.   It definitely feels like a permanent vacation and we’re pretty firmly decided that Florida is now our home.   My husband is working on setting up our software development business, and once we’ve got that somewhat established we will start house hunting again.   I love our little rental apartment, but I am looking forward to owning our own home sometime soon.  I’m also looking forward to working with my husband and helping him pave the way to a reliable, sustainable income for us now and into the future.  It’ll be nice to be making all our own decisions rather than live our lives in the shadow of someone else holding our future in their hands.  Fingers crossed we can make that happen sooner rather than later!
