Sometimes you just have to ask for help.

I was browsing the web reading up on the whole Disability process, you know, like you do, when I read about people contacting their State Representative and getting their cases heard at hearing sooner.  I’ve tried this before with something similar and it worked.  About 10 years ago I was waiting on Immigration to sort out my hearing date and it had been pushed back, year after year.  Remember, I came to the US in 1999. so I’d already divorced my ex, married John and had two kids in the time that I was waiting for Immigration to hear my case and honestly, I was getting pissed.  My Mum had just been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and I was worried about what would happen if I needed to go home.  My passport was stamped, but my Green Card was 8 years expired and I wanted to be sure I could leave and come back, so I contacted my Representative and about a month later I received a hearing date in the mail.  Funny how that works.

So I emailed Stephanie Murphy’s office and asked her office if there was any way she could help us.  Things are really stressful and really tight here.  I’m doing my best to keep us afloat, but it’s insanely stressful and the pressure at home is not helping anyone, least of all John.  I heard back and was given a form to complete and email over to Stephanie’s office in DC, which I did.  Now I guess, we sit and wait.

Fingers crossed!
