RESOURCES FOR SELLERS
Selling a home can be an emotional time, especially if it’s a home you raised a family in, so it’s important to get an Agent on your team that will help guide you, professionally, through the process. A good place to start is to read reviews of Agents online or ask for recommendations from family and friends. A good agent will appraise your situation and help you prepare your home for selling, including pointing out areas that might need work or improvements you can make that will increase your home’s value. They will also assist you in deciding upon a price at which to list your home.
You will discuss with your Agent what they believe will help you, but a good place to start is to thoroughly clean and declutter the home. You are hopefully going to be moving anyway, so start by packing away in the garage or in one of the extra rooms as many of your personal items as you can. You want a buyer to walk into your home and be able to picture themselves living there, which is hard to do if there are family photos everywhere.
If you have bright colorful walls, it might be a good idea to give them a neutral coat of paint, for the same reason; you want to create a blank canvas for the next homeowner. You might also want to consider painting your front door. Your buyers will spent a minute or so on the doorstep whilst their Agent opens a lock box, so make sure your door looks great! First impressions are important.
